Hayao Miyazaki's films shaped the way I see the world long before I ever thought about becoming an illustrator. His characters taught me empathy, resilience, and respect for nature, and they continue to inspire the way I approach storytelling through my own work.
Creating this illustration felt like a small way of saying thank you. It also gave me the perfect excuse to celebrate the return of Princess Mononoke to Italian cinemas in a restored 4K edition. Rather than recreating a specific scene, I wanted to capture the quiet determination and untamed spirit that make San such an unforgettable character. Every brushstroke was an attempt to convey the delicate balance between humanity and nature that has always made this film feel timeless. I hope this piece resonates with fellow Studio Ghibli fans as much as creating it resonated with me.
